Start-up period 1958~1988: In the start-up period from 1958 to 1988, China's backbone fiberglass manufacturers were gradually established, at this time the fiberglass production process was mainly crucible method, China's fiberglass production technology was relatively backward, and the production process was not perfect.

In 1958, the production workshop of Shanghai Yaohua Glass Factory with an annual output of 500 tons of alkali-free fiberglass was announced to be completed and put into operation; In 1966, Shaanxi Province Fiberglass Corporation was established; In 1980, Changzhou No.253 Factory was established.

Rapid development period 1989~2008: In the rapid development period from 1989 to 2008, China officially used the pool kiln method to produce fiberglass, and fully grasp the whole set of production process, with the improvement of fiberglass production line work efficiency, energy consumption reduction, China's large and medium-sized fiberglass companies production scale rapidly expanded.

In 1989, Zhuhai Fiberglass Factory introduced for the first time a complete set of technical and weaponry equipment for the production line of 4,000 tons of alkali-free fiberglass pool kiln wire drawing production line; In 1998, China's first fully domestically manufactured 7,500-ton pool kiln production line was put into operation in Hangzhou Laminated Glass Group Company; In 2004, China's first pool kiln wire drawing production line with an annual output of 60,000 tons was basically established; In 2007, China's fiberglass production reached 1.6 million tons, ranking first in the world; In 2008, China's fiberglass consumption and production and sales ranked first in the world.

Maturity period 2009 ~ present: In the mature period from 2009 to the present, China has established a sound management system for fiberglass raw materials, manufacturing and other supporting facilities. The government has issued relevant policies to vigorously support the development of the new material industry. China's fiberglass industry has reached the global advanced level in the fields of pool kiln technology, laminated glass and surface treatment technology, automation technology and intelligent machinery and equipment application, and resource-saving technology.

In 2014, China's fiberglass yarn output reached 5.2126 million tons; in March 2016, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other four departments jointly issued the "Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Innovation and Development of New Materials Industry", increasing support for the new material industry from policy orientation, financial subsidies, credit support and other aspects; In 2019, China's fiberglass production accounted for 65.88% of the global fiberglass production; In 2021, China's fiberglass production reached 6.24 million tons.
