This fiberglass production base now uses 100% green electricity!
"One out of every three wind turbine blades worldwide uses glass fiber from China Jushi. Our company's wind farms generate over 600 million kWh of wind power annually, all of which is fed into the national grid," said Gu Jianding, Executive Director and General Manager of Jushi Group's Huai'an branch, pointing to a model of a wind turbine blade in the exhibition hall. The green electricity produced by Jushi New Energy (Huai'an) Co., Ltd. more than meets the glass fiber production needs of Jushi Group Huai'an Co., Ltd. While a portion is supplied to the fiberglass production base for fiberglass production, another portion is distributed to thousands of households, achieving green power supply for both production and daily life, forming a "micro-circulation" of glass fiber and composite materials applications.
With a total investment exceeding 10 billion yuan, China Jushi's Huai'an Zero-Carbon Intelligent Manufacturing Base is the world's first zero-carbon intelligent manufacturing base in the glass fiber industry and the second integrated coarse and fine yarn production base in the world. Recently, a reporter visited this multi-billion-yuan investment in the glass fiber zero-carbon intelligent manufacturing base and experienced the intelligent and green atmosphere of this "factory of the future."
Zero-carbon smart manufacturing creates a "micro-circulation" for the glass fiber industry.
"Currently, we have completed a 233-megawatt wind farm project and installed 47 wind turbines. Annual wind power generation exceeds 600 million kWh, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 150,000 households," said Song Changyu, Chairman and General Manager of Jushi New Energy (Huaian) Co., Ltd.
Reporters observed that the wind farm is equipped with energy storage. Computer screens in the control room displayed operating data for each wind turbine and energy storage tank. "Currently, our wind farm is operating well. Building on this, we launched the second phase of a 500-megawatt wind power project this year, which will continue to enhance Jushi's green manufacturing capabilities," said Song Changyu.
Pointing to the "big windmill" in the distance, he told reporters that Jushi New Energy (Huaian) Co., Ltd. was established to provide strong support for the operation of the Jushi Huaian Zero-Carbon Smart Manufacturing Base, more than ten kilometers away.
Reporters learned that the nearby Jushi Huaian Zero-Carbon Smart Manufacturing Base has begun to take shape, with a current production capacity of 200,000 tons.
"In February 2025, construction began on a zero-carbon intelligent manufacturing production line for electronic-grade glass fiber with an annual output of 100,000 tons. Construction is currently underway," Gu Jianding told reporters. Glass fiber is widely used in wind power generation, new energy vehicles, photovoltaics, and other industries. The company has implemented a green energy plan and a zero-carbon recycling model, moving from developing to using green electricity. The base has reached 100% green electricity usage, achieving "net-zero" emissions and forming a "microcycle" from glass fiber and composite material production to application.
Innovation and Upgrading Enhance Technological "Hard Power"
If using wind power is the "A" side of green and low-carbon development, then advanced technology and intelligent manufacturing are the "B" side.
"We just completed an experiment to blend hydrogen into kiln fuel, a global industry first." Gu Jianding stated that while the use of hydrogen currently increases production costs, the company believes it is an inevitable choice for green and low-carbon development.
Batching, melting, drawing, winding, inspection and assembly... Entering the Huai'an company's production workshop, reporters observed multiple automated conveyor lines moving in an orderly fashion on their respective tracks.
"The AGVs you see transporting products back and forth are all intelligently and automatically sorted, significantly improving efficiency and reducing costs," Gu Jianding told reporters, pointing to a large screen in the data analysis center. The factory's environmental indicators, operating condition analysis, energy efficiency, and other production data charts are updated in real time, enabling full-process monitoring of production indicators such as process quality, energy consumption, and efficiency.
He told reporters that the base has upgraded its production processes, leveraging national scientific research platforms and targeting the forefront of industry technology. It integrates a series of advanced glass fiber production processes and technologies, including high-performance glass formulations, ultra-large tank kilns, in-house development of key raw materials, and intelligent manufacturing. The base boasts 100% independent intellectual property rights. Furthermore, the base has introduced a digital manufacturing system, enabling transparent management of the entire production process, including production planning, supply chain, and equipment operation and maintenance, and generates a unique "carbon neutrality ID card" for each ton of glass fiber.
"We integrate green and low-carbon concepts throughout the entire product lifecycle. Our independently developed fluorine-free, boron-free, high-modulus, high-strength E7, E8, and E9 glass formulas reduce the use of mineral resources and create efficient, clean, low-carbon, and circular factories of the future," said Gu Jianding. The company is currently constructing a zero-carbon intelligent manufacturing production line for electronic-grade glass fiber with an annual output of 100,000 tons. The electronic-grade glass fiber produced is the raw material for the "mother of electronic system products." By creating zero-carbon electronic fabric products, the project will provide a superior solution for the sustainable development of the high-end electronic information industry.
"To ensure the decarbonization of the new energy side of the 100,000-ton annual electronic-grade glass fiber zero-carbon intelligent manufacturing production line and neutralize the carbon generated by the glass fiber side, achieving zero-carbon manufacturing, a 500-megawatt wind power generation project is being constructed as a supporting project. The 500-megawatt wind power project will generate approximately 1.35 billion kWh of electricity annually, neutralizing approximately 870,000 tons of carbon emissions." Gu Jianding told reporters that China Jushi is continuously forging ahead on a new path: "From producing glass fiber to using it, leveraging green energy to produce high-performance glass fiber for the wind power industry."
